Terms of Use
Last updated: September 15, 2026
1. Agreement
By installing or using Umbra (the "App") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The App is made by Luka Hristic ("we", "us").
2. What the App does
Umbra lets you log migraine attacks and symptom days, medications and doses, and answers to the MIDAS questionnaire; shows that history as a calendar, insights and a PDF report; and can remind you, with your permission, about a questionnaire or a medication limit you set yourself. Logging, crisis mode, history, insights, MIDAS, iCloud sync and CSV export are free. The PDF report and per-medication windows and limits are part of Umbra Pro.
3. Medical disclaimer
Umbra is not a medical device and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It records what you enter and computes counts, durations and averages from it. It does not diagnose any condition, does not predict attacks, and does not recommend any medication, dose or treatment.
The medication windows and limits in Umbra Pro are values you enter yourself, from your medication's leaflet or from your clinician. A notice that a dose lands inside one is a reminder of your own setting, not a medical judgement. The MIDAS score is a self-reported questionnaire, scored the published way; its grade describes disability over the previous three months and is not a diagnosis.
Where the App quotes a threshold or a definition, the source is listed in Settings → About → References. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional about your symptoms, your medication and anything you notice in your history.
If a headache is the worst you have ever had, or comes with weakness, confusion or trouble speaking, that is an emergency. Call your local emergency number. Do not use the App to decide whether to seek care.
4. Your entries
Everything in the App comes from you. You are responsible for its accuracy, for keeping your device secure, and for what you do with the exports and reports you generate. The report is a record of what you reported, for you and for whoever treats you; it is not a clinical document.
5. Age
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App, or older where local law requires. Under 18, use it with a parent or guardian's consent.
6. Privacy
The App has no account and no server. Your entries stay on your device and, if sync is on, in your own iCloud. Our Privacy Policy describes this in full and is part of these terms.
7. Umbra Pro
Umbra Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase as an auto-renewing monthly subscription, an auto-renewing yearly subscription, and a one-time lifetime purchase. The price of each is shown in the App Store and on the purchase screen in your local currency before you confirm.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period.
- You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. Cancelling stops renewal; the current period runs to its end.
- Where a free trial is offered, the subscription starts charging when the trial ends unless cancelled at least 24 hours before, and any unused portion of the trial is forfeited when you purchase a different plan.
- The lifetime purchase is a single payment that does not renew.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its refund policy. We cannot issue them.
- "Restore purchases" in Settings and on every paywall restores Pro on any device signed in with the same Apple Account.
- Purchases are also subject to Apple's Standard End User License Agreement.
Prices may change; a change to a subscription price takes effect at the next renewal after notice, as Apple requires.
8. Intellectual property
The App, its design, its text and its name are ours. Your entries are yours. The MIDAS questionnaire was developed by Stewart, Lipton and colleagues; the App asks its items in its own words and attributes the instrument on screen and in the report.
9. Acceptable use
Do not reverse engineer, resell or misrepresent the App, and do not use it in any way that breaks the law or Apple's terms.
10. No warranty
The App is provided "as is". We do our best to make it accurate and reliable, but we do not warrant that it is error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose, including any medical purpose. Keep your own backup of anything important: iCloud sync is a backup, and you can export a CSV at any time.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any decision made or not made on the basis of the App, its reports or its notifications. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months before the claim.
12. Third-party services
Purchases are processed by Apple. Purchase state is managed through RevenueCat, which receives only an anonymous identifier and transaction data, never your entries. Sync uses Apple's CloudKit under your own Apple Account. Each is governed by its own terms.
13. Changes
We may update the App and these terms. Material changes to the terms are published at this address with a new date; continued use after that date is acceptance. If you disagree, stop using the App and delete it.
14. Termination
You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may end access to the App if you break these terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Nothing in them limits the consumer rights you have under the law of the country where you live.
